Ghawar in Saudi Arabia (the top horizontal line) is the largest oil-producing oilfield in the world. The current global enhanced oil recovery and Canadian tar sand production are shown as the middle and lowest horizontal lines, respectively. We will have to add an equivalent of the Ghawar every 1-4 years, depending on the rate of oil production decline, and this is clearly impossible.
